§ 50. Mr. Lightbownasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what measures he is considering to improve police efficiency and effectiveness.
§ Mr. HurdHer Majesty's Inspectors of Constabulary will continue to encourage forces to manage resources efficiently and effectively, in accordance with the guidance which my right hon. and learned Friend recently issued to chief officers and police authorities, and to ensure that examples of good practice are widely disseminated. We attach importance to the sustained contribution of the Department to improve efficiency and effectiveness through its work in such important areas as crime prevention, police training, new technology and research.
