HC Deb 17 May 1984 vol 60 cc231-2W
Ms. Harman

asked the Attorney-General if he will take action under section 22 of the Legal Aid Act 1974 against any official who has passed information on legal aid applicants to any other official not concerned with legal aid.

The Attorney-General

I am not aware of any contravention of section 22 of the Legal Aid Act 1974 by a Government official. Section 22 applies only where a person discloses information which was furnished to the Law Society or to any committee or person on their behalf and which he obtained when employed by or acting on behalf of the Law Society.
