HC Deb 17 May 1984 vol 60 c218W
Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what conservation and other groups have made representations opposing the development of a container terminal at Falmouth.

Mr. David Mitchell

Representations opposing this development — some in qualified terms — have been received from:

  • Cornwall Branch, Council for the Preservation of Rural England
  • Cornwall Transport 2000
  • Falmouth Civic Society
  • Falmouth Container Terminal Action Group
  • Mersey Docks and Harbour Company
  • Port of Bristol Authority
  • Restronguet Creek Society
  • Transport and General Workers Union

A number of other bodies have expressed concern over the hydrological aspects and urged the need for a study of these before the development takes place.
