HC Deb 16 May 1984 vol 60 cc186-7W
Mr. Concannon

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what information he has about the number of United Kingdom firms that have consultants employed in Yemen on feasibility studies for the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen.

Mr. Channon

I am aware of seven United Kingdom firms which have consultants employed in the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen. Precise information on whether and to what extent they are employed on feasibility studies, as opposed to other consultancy work, is not available.

Mr. Concannon

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what aid, in the form of export credits, Government loans and cultural aids, has been offered to the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen.

Mr. Raison

I have been asked to reply.

The only aid given by Her Majesty's Government to the Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen is a modest programme of technical co-operation which includes support for two English language advisory posts and training awards in the United Kingdom.
