HC Deb 16 May 1984 vol 60 cc198-9W
Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what provisions will be made for students whose travel costs exceed the flat-rate sum.

Mr. Brooke

Students will continue to be able to claim reimbursement of travel costs in excess of the amount provided in their grant incurred in respect of attendance at an overseas institution or away from the main place of study. Provision will also be made for disabled students to claim reimbursement of any travel costs in excess of the amount provided in their grant which they may incur in respect of attendance on their course as a result of their disability. Existing students whose necessary expenditure on travel is more than £150 above the amount they receive through their grant will be able to claim reimbursement of the excess.
