Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if Her Majesty's Government intend to send observers to the elections in Nicaragua.

Mr. Whitney

We are in favour of any moves towards democracy in Central America. We shall consider positively any invitation we may receive to send observers to elections in the region.
