§ Mr. BrookeThe number in the present academic year is expected to be approximately 5,360. Estimates are not available for 1985 and 1986 since plans for student numbers and courses are under review.
§ Mr. Gouldasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will give priority to the claims of the Open University in allocating financial resources.
§ Mr. BrookeThere are many and various claims on the education budget, including those of the Open University. My right hon. Friend takes them all into consideration when allocating resources and he is satisfied that the Open university receives its appropriate share.
