HC Deb 15 May 1984 vol 60 c151W
Mr. Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how long applicants for the enterprise allowance scheme in (a) the Huddersfield area, (b) the Kirklees area, (c) West Yorkshire and (d) the Yorkshire region have to wait on average before being granted an appointment at the initial seminar; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alan Clark

As a result of the increased take-on announced on 1 May at column 65, the average waiting period for those in Huddersfield and Kirklees, west Yorkshire and the Yorkshire and Humberside region, wishing to attend an information seminar for the enterprise allowance scheme has been reduced to around eight weeks.

We are looking urgently at the future of the scheme in the medium term and an announcement will be made later this year.
