HC Deb 11 May 1984 vol 59 c487W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the number of vacancies that have been registered and the number of vacancies that have been filled in each of the jobcentres in the Wolverhampton travel—to—work area in 1982, 1983 and in 1984 to date.

Mr. Peter Morrison

The information requested is as follows:

Year ending 3 December 1982 Year ending 2 December 1983 5 December 1983 to 30 March 1984
Vacancies Notified
Wolverhampton 4,659 6,045 1,643
Bilston 1,196 1,694 497
Wednesfield 507 574 186
Wolverhampton TTWA 6,362 8,313 2,326

Wolverhampton 3,530 4,912 1,283
Bilston 1,002 1,517 424
Wednesfield 444 467 177

There is likely to have been a substantial number of vacancies other than those notified to jobcentres. Nationally it is estimated that about one third of all vacancies are notified to jobcentres.
