HC Deb 08 May 1984 vol 59 c327W
Mr. Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if the proposed site of special scientific interest covering unimproved pasture near Talerddig Llanbrynmair, Montgomery, has been ploughed up during the three-month consultation period provided under section 28 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981; and how many similar cases of destruction are known to his Department.

Mr. Waldegrave

I am advised by the Nature Conservancy Council that a proposed site of special scientific interest comprising an area of unimproved pasture near Talerddig Llanbrynmair, Montgomery was damaged by ploughing during the three-month consultation period provided under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. This site, known as Gwyneunydd Hafod-Wen, was included in a short list of sites damaged or destroyed in similar circumstances in the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Islington, South and Finsbury (Mr. Smith) on 1 May at column113.
