HC Deb 08 May 1984 vol 59 c326W
Mr. Proctor

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list in the Official Report those towns and cities with significant ethnic minority communities which the hon. Member for Ealing, Acton (Sir. G. Young) has visited in the last 12 months; and at what cost to public funds in total and, if possible, in each case.

Sir George Young

The areas I have visited specifically in connection with my responsibility for race relations are Brent (twice), Manchester (twice), Walsall, Wolverhampton, Islington and Southampton. On a number of these occasions, I have combined the visits with duties related to other aspects of my ministerial responsibility and on other occasions I have combined ministerial visits in connection with other responsibilities with short visits to ethnic projects. It is not, therefore, possible to estimate costs attributable to the ethnic element of the visits.
