HC Deb 08 May 1984 vol 59 c300W
Mr. Caborn

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assistance has been given by Her Majesty's Government to any African countries affected by the recent drought.

Mr. Luce

Since the reply of 9 April to my hon. Friend the Member for Banbury (Mr. Baldry) at columns17–18, the European Community has announced further allocations of over 10,000 tonnes of food aid to relieve drought in Africa, and has also just agreed a European development fund emergency aid allocation of some £11 million to thirteen drought-stricken countries. Our share of this will be about £2 million.
