HC Deb 08 May 1984 vol 59 cc376-7W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many local authorities do not provide suitable residential accommodation for disabled persons not of retirement age; and what resources his Department can provide for local authorities wishing to do more in this regard.

Mr. Newton

Information is not available centrally in the form requested. Responsibility lies with local authorities and it is for them to decide whether to provide their own facilities or to make use of those provided by others. No special funds are available for this purpose. Authorities decide how best to use the funds available to them to meet their own priorities.
