HC Deb 04 May 1984 vol 59 c247W
Mr. Park

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will give the figures of people refused entry to the United Kingdom by the immigration officer at the point of entry from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, each year since 1979 and to the nearest convenient date.

Mr. Waddington

The information requested is published annually in "Control of Immigration: Statistics" — (tables 1(a) and 1(b) of the latest issue for 1982, Cmnd. 8944). In 1983, 1,405, 295 and 1,108 nationals of India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, respectively, were refused leave to enter the United Kingdom.
