asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the present position on the proposed oils and fats tax; and if he will make a statement.

The Commission proposal for an oils and fats tax was not adopted by the Council as part of the prices package on 30–31 March. It is still on the table, but we and a number of other members remain firmly opposed to it.
