asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on progress at Scott Lithgow in the field of high technology offshore construction.

Since the transfer of Scott Lithgow to the private sector, work has restarted on the advanced drilling rig Ocean Alliance for Britoil. Work is also continuing on the BP rig Sea Explorer, BP having withdrawn its earlier notice of cancellation, and on the seabed operations vessel for the Royal Navy, HMS Challenger.
