HC Deb 30 March 1984 vol 57 c332W
Mr. Maples

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many dwellings he estimates will be built or acquired by public housing authorities in Northern Ireland in each of the years 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987; and how many dwellings will be sold by those authorities under the right-to-buy legislation.

Mr. Chris Patten

During the financial year 1984–85 the Northern Ireland Housing Executive plans to complete 3,200 new dwellings. It also expects to sell some 5,500 dwellings to sitting tenants during the same period. Detailed estimates for the years beyond 1984–85 are not available in the form requested. New starts will be kept under review in light of estimates of demand and every effort will be made to maintain the sales effort to sitting tenants.
