§ Mr. Giles ShawThe number of people currently receiving benefits under the redundant mineworkers payments scheme is 35,960, and the total number of people employed by the National Coal Board at September 1983 was 238,841. The number of beneficiaries of the mineworkers pension scheme and the staff superannuation scheme are matters for the board, and I have asked the chairman to write to my hon. Friend.
