HC Deb 30 March 1984 vol 57 c342W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many people currently receive benefits under (a) the mineworkers' pension scheme, (b) the staff superannuation scheme and (c) the redundant miners payment scheme; and if he will compare the total number of recipients no longer employed by the board with the present work force.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The number of people currently receiving benefits under the redundant mineworkers payments scheme is 35,960, and the total number of people employed by the National Coal Board at September 1983 was 238,841. The number of beneficiaries of the mineworkers pension scheme and the staff superannuation scheme are matters for the board, and I have asked the chairman to write to my hon. Friend.
