HC Deb 30 March 1984 vol 57 cc341-2W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy (1) whether he proposes to legislate on matters relevant to the law of subsidence in coal mining following the disclosures in the Waddilove report;

(2) if, following the Waddilove report, he will amend the Coal Mining (Subsidence) Act 1957 to make applicable common standards in relation to coal and general mining;

(3) whether he proposes to legislate a time limit for National Coal Board liability for subsidence in old and disused mines.

Mr. Peter Walker

The Waddilove committee submitted its report last week to myself and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment.

The question of possible changes in the law relating coal mining subsidence will form part of our consideration of the report, which will be published shortly.
