HC Deb 30 March 1984 vol 57 c314W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the Greater London council's (a) gross revenue expenditure and (b) gross capital expenditure for the latest year for which information is available.

Mr. Waldegrave

Gross revenue expenditure reported by the Greater London council (including ILEA) for 1982–83 was £2,180 million and gross capital expenditure was £451 million. Gross revenue expenditure is gross expenditure on rate fund, trading and housing revenue accounts less net contributions by the rate fund to trading and housing revenue accounts. Gross capital expenditure is all expenditure charged to capital accounts plus expenditure on capital charged direct to revenue or other funds.
