1. The new series are for types of farming as defined in Table 26 of Cmnd. 9137 except that "Cattle and Sheep" is a combination of LFA and Lowland types.
2. The two series differ in that (a) farms are classified by type and size by standard man days in the old series by the EC Typology based on standard gross margins in the new series; (b) net farm income is calculated after deducting depreciation before deduction interest on any farming loans.
3. The indices in real terms are deflated by the Retail Price Index.
