Whether they will raise with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees the problem of Soviet refugees in Afghanistan.
§ Baroness YoungWe have known for some time that a number of Soviet soldiers are held prisoner by the Afghan resistance in Afghanistan. We have also followed closely the efforts of the International Red Cross to assist them. It would be for the United Nations High Commisssioner for Refugees to decide how to respond to any approach by such Soviet prisoners for assistance or refugee status.
