§ Mr. Gordon Brownasked the Prime Minister if Ministerial personal advisers have the status of temporary civil servants; and whether they are subject to the general principles of conduct pertaining in the Civil Service.
§ The Prime MinisterMinisterial personal advisers who are not civil servants are appointed personally by the Minister on terms and conditions laid down by him; these are as a rule similar to those applicable to civil servants, and will require them to follow similar rules of conduct. Personal advisers are answerable to the Minister concerned for their conduct.
