asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will now make a statement on the Government's proposals to increase the level of death grant.

I refer the hon. Member to my reply to him on 13 December 1983 at column 836.

44. Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many representations he has now received on the future of the death grant since the publication of his consultative document on 30 March 1982.

Dr. Boyson

Since 30 March 1982 we have received 567 representations from right hon. and hon. Members, members of the public and various organisations. A further 635 representations were received in response to the consultative document itself.

Mr. Dubs

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he now has any plans to increase the death grant; and if he will make a statement.
