Mr. Robert Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will set out the projects currently being carried out by British companies in the Sudan.

Mr. Raison

All projects funded under the United Kingdom aid programme in Sudan are tied to the supply of British goods or the provision of services from British companies and personnel.

Major projects currently being implemented and involving British companies are:

  • Khartoum North Power Station
  • Burri Rehabilitation Phases I and II
  • Burri Extension
  • Southern Region Agricultural Rehabilitation Project
  • Western Savannah Development Corporation
  • Northern Region Irregation Rehabilitation Project
  • Port Sudan Modernisation
  • Sennar Dredger
  • Atbara Aerial Ropeway
