§ Mr. GummerThere are no specific statutory requirements for the provision of safety footwear to workers on docks or in dockyards. However, section 2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 imposes a duty on employers to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all their employees.
