HC Deb 26 March 1984 vol 57 c78W
Mr. Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish in the Official Report the cost to public funds of the public inquiry granted to residents of the St. Mary's estate, Netherthong, Huddersfield, following their appeal under section 17 of the Public Health Act 1936 and held in Huddersfield town' hall in May 1983; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waldegrave

The inquiry lasted two days and the inspector took a further four days to prepare his report to the Secretary of State. His annual salary in May 1983 was £19,730. The Department's other administrative costs are not identified separately in respect of any single inquiry. I am unable to provide information about costs incurred by the Yorkshire water authority and the other public bodies that attended the inquiry.
