HC Deb 26 March 1984 vol 57 c7W
Mr. Fisher

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry by what means (a) British Aerospace, (b) Cable and Wireless, (c) Amersham International and (d) British Petroleum were valued, prior to the sale of shares.

Mr. Butcher

In fixing the prices for the initial offers for sale of shares in British Aerospace and Cable and Wireless for which there was no existing market valuation, the Government had regard to advice from merchant bankers and stockbrokers. My Department was not responsible for the sale of Amersham International, nor for the sale of minority holdings in British Petroleum and Cable and Wireless.
