HC Deb 26 March 1984 vol 57 c23W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the United Kingdom levy on bulk liquid milk as a percentage of the return to the dairy farmer averaged over his total milk sales to the milk marketing boards.

Mr. MacGregor

According to "Dairy Facts and Figures 1983" published by the Federation of United Kingdom Marketing Boards, the average net price paid to wholesale producers in England and Wales in the marketing year 1982–83 was 14.664p per litre. I gave information on the United Kingdom levy on bulk liquid milk from third countries in my reply in column 553 to the hon. Member on 6 March 1984. This is equivalent to approximately 85 per cent. of the average producer price in 1982–83.
