§ Mr. AncramThe information available centrally does not relate expressly to insulation standards required under the building regulations. An estimate made by a private firm (Audits of Great Britain Ltd) on the basis of a sample survey carried out in December 1982 indicated that some 274,000 (29 per cent.) local authority houses met the standard in force at that time: of this total 63,000 (7 per cent.) had insulation of 100 mm thickness as now required for new housing under building standards regulations introduced in March 1983.
