HC Deb 26 March 1984 vol 57 c61W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that the information available from different sources is sufficiently up to date to form a basis for the estimates of the number of women currently receiving housewives' non-contributory invalidity pensions who will not qualify for severe disablement allowance.

Mr. Newton

All those already in receipt of housewives' non-contributory invalidity pension when severe disablement allowance is introduced will automatically transfer to the new benefit. If the right hon. Member refers to those who would have qualified for housewives' non-contributory invalidity pension thereafter but will not qualify for severe disablement allowance, I accept that the basis for the estimates is not as precise as we would have wished, but they are the best that could reasonably be made on the information available.
