HC Deb 23 March 1984 vol 56 c610W
Rev. William McCrea

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the current trend in vacancies and its implications for future employment patterns in England.

Mr. Alan Clark

The seasonally adjusted stock of unfilled vacancies notified to jobcentres in England rise throughout most of 1983. However, in recent months the level has fallen back slightly, but the stock in February 1984 was 25 per cent. higher than a year ago. The implications of this trend are encouraging.
