HL Deb 22 March 1984 vol 449 c1461WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will use their good offices with the Manpower Services Commission to ensure continuity of funding for the New Horizons project in Midsomer Norton, Avon, given its 60 per cent success rate in securing jobs for the long-term unemployed and its willingness to work with otherwise unemployable ex-offenders and others in trouble with the police.

The Minister of State, Privy Council Office, and Minister for the Arts (The Earl of Gowrie)

Applications for support are considered by Area Manpower Boards to ensure that support is given to those projects which best meet the needs of unemployed people and local communities. An application for continued support for the New Horizons project would be considered on its merits.
