asked Her Majesty's Government:

To provide a breakdown of grants given by Department of Health and Social Security in 1982–83 totalling over £15 million to voluntary organisations (including, where appropriate, those concerned with children and young people) under the following heads—

  • Age, ageing, elderly
  • Alcoholism
  • Blind and visually handicapped
  • Deaf, Partially deaf and hard of hearing
  • Disabled and handicapped
  • Drug addiction and abuse
  • Homeless
  • Mentally handicapped
  • Smoking
  • Speech impairment
  • Other specific conditions or diseases
stating under each head, the total of grants given and the number of voluntary organisations in receipt of these grants.
