HC Deb 22 March 1984 vol 56 c579W
Mr. Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people unemployed for more than 52 weeks are now claiming supplementary benefit from the Huddersfield office of his Department; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Boyson

At December 1983 there were 6,500 unemployed people receiving supplementary benefit in Huddersfield. I regret that reliable estimates are not available for the number of these who have been unemployed for more than 52 weeks.
