HC Deb 22 March 1984 vol 56 c533W
Mr. Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether the appropriate authorities in France sought any advice from his Department concerning apprehended disorder connected with the recent rugby football match in Paris between France and England; and what advice was given in this regard by his Department to the French authorities.

Mr. Macfarlane

No. However, following the violence associated with the France v. England soccer match on Wednesday 29 February, I met a representative of the French embassy to explain my concern both about that violence and possible repercussions at the France v. England rugby football union international match on Saturday 3 March.

Mr. Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether during the present Session of Parliament any time of Ministers or officials in his Department has had to be given to dealing with matters related to disorders connected with Rugby union football matches.

Mr. Macfarlane

No.
