HC Deb 22 March 1984 vol 56 cc547-8W
Mr. Maples

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many dwellings he estimates will be built or acquired by public housing authorities, including regional and county councils, new towns and similar public bodies in Scotland in each of the years 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987; and how many dwellings will be sold by those authorities under the right-to-buy legislation.

Mr. Ancram

It is estimated that 3,800 dwellings will be completed by public housing authorities in Scotland in the year 1984–85, and that some 17,000 to 18,000 will be sold under the right-to-buy legislation over the same period. Figures for acquisitions and forecasts for subsequent years are not available.

Mr. Maples

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many dwellings were owned by all public housing authorities, including new towns, regional and county councils and similar public bodies in Scotland at 1 July 1979 and at 31 December 1983; and how many such dwellings were sold and how many acquired or built.
