§ Mr. Peter MorrisonWe have received a number of representations about the operation of the youth training scheme in the coming year and in particular about the reduction in mode B1 provision. My right hon. Friend and I are satisfied that suitable training places will be available 461W on the scheme to meet the needs of all available youngsters seeking places. We very much value the continued participation of voluntary organisations in the scheme.
§ Mr. Doverasked the Secretary of State for Employment what representations he has received from the construction industry conerning the effects on the industry of the delay in the announcement of the grants levels for the youth training scheme in the financial year 1984–85; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonWe received a number of representations earlier this year, including from the construction industry, about the need for early decisions on the level of block grant for mode A managing agents under the youth training scheme in 1984–85. The Manpower Services Commission made recommendations to the Government on 24 February and the new level of grant, which will take effect from 1 September, was given in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Banbury (Mr. Baldry) on 9 March at column 733–34.
