18. Mr. Winnick

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on any discussions he has had with the Government of Argentina over the Falkland Islands.

We will not enter into talks about sovereignty. But, as my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister said on the 21 February, we put some specific ideas for the establishment of better bilateral relations to the Argentines through the Swiss protecting power on 26 January. We are studying their reply.

Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions Her Majesty's Government have had about the use of cleared land by the Falkland Islands Company.

Mr. Whitney

No such discussions have been held with the Falkland Islands Company.
