HC Deb 21 March 1984 vol 56 cc486-7W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has made an estimate of the reduction in the level of common agricultural prices in real terms which would be required to put a ceiling on agricultural expenditure under the common agricultural policy in real terms at the present level.

Mr. MacGregor

I have been asked to reply.

The reductions in price levels required would depend critically upon the assumptions employed and it is not possible to give a meaningful estimate.
