HC Deb 20 March 1984 vol 56 cc397-8W
17. Mr. Loyden

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what representations he has received from trade unions affiliated to the Trades Union Congress about his plans to abolish wages councils.

Mr. Gummer

While the position of wages councils is under consideration, no decisions have yet been taken. Although my right hon. Friend has received no direct representations from individual trades unions on this matter he has received a letter from the Trades Union Congress and he hopes to have a meeting with it shortly.
