Mrs. Ann Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many maternity beds are provided for the use of general practitioners by each district health authority in England; and what is the length of stay allowed following delivery of patients.

[pursuant to his reply, 15 February 1984, c. 232]: The number of GP maternity beds in each district health authority in England is given in the following table.

The length of stay following delivery will vary depending on the needs of the mother and baby.
