HC Deb 20 March 1984 vol 56 c389W
Mr. John Browne

asked the Prime Minister if Her Majesty's Government will introduce legislation to ensure that a voluntary secret ballot in contemplation of industrial action is available to all trade union members throughout the country.

Mr. Biffen

I have been asked to reply.

The Trade Union Bill now before Parliament will make trade unions' immunity for organising industrial action conditional on their holding a secret ballot to test the views of all their members who would be called on to take part in the action.
