HC Deb 20 March 1984 vol 56 cc416-7W
Mr. Norman Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will now seek to introduce measures to allow environmental health officers to enter and carry out an inspection of the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham palace.

Sir George Young

Public health inspections, other than for food hygiene, are carried out by staff of the Property Services Agency, and safety inspections are made by officials of the Health and Safety Executive. I am satisfied that these arrangements are adequate. Food hygiene at Buckingham palace and in the Refreshment Departments of the two Houses of Parliament is a matter for the authorities of the palace and of the two Houses respectively.
