HC Deb 19 March 1984 vol 56 c375W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth countries with which the United Kingdom has reciprocal arrangements for the payment of indexed retirement pensions.

Dr. Boyson

United Kingdom pensions are payable throughout the world but annual uprating increases are payable only if the pensioner is in a European Community country or in a country with which the United Kingdom has a social security convention which specifically provides for the payment of such increases. We have such conventions with the following non-EC countries:

Commonwealth

Cyprus, Jamaica, Malta and Mauritius.

Non-Commonwealth

Austria, Bermuda, Finland, Guernsey, Israel, Jersey, Portugal, Sark, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, the United States of America and Yugoslavia.
