§ Mr. Alan Clark[pursuant to his reply, 15 March 1984, c. 239.]: Information is only available for the Manpower Services Commission's Coventry area office which covers the city of Coventry and the county of Warwickshire. At the end of February 1984, 4,824 young people were in training under the youth training scheme. On 1 June 1979, 1,713 young people were in training under the youth opportunities programme.

§ Mr. Alan Clark[pursuant to his reply, 15 March 1984, c. 239.]: Analyses of the unemployed by age are available quarterly and the following table gives the number of registered unemployed aged under 18 years in July 1979 and the number of unemployed claimants in January 1984, together with the figures for October 1982 on both the registration and claimant bases. The figures are not seasonally adjusted; in particular, the figures for July 1979 are seasonally high due to new school leavers registering as unemployed.
