§ 39. Mr. Deakinsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will discuss with the United States of America the problem of additional funding for the International Development Association.
§ Mr. RaisonWe have at present no plans to do so. The United States Government have made it clear that they are not willing to increase their contribution to IDA 7 beyond the amount they have already announced. They are well aware of Her Majesty's Government's view that an IDA 7 of $9 billion, which is the result of the low United States contribution, is inadequate. We have made clear our willingness to participate in a supplementary fund of up to $3 billion.
