HC Deb 19 March 1984 vol 56 c336W
39. Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will discuss with the United States of America the problem of additional funding for the International Development Association.

Mr. Raison

We have at present no plans to do so. The United States Government have made it clear that they are not willing to increase their contribution to IDA 7 beyond the amount they have already announced. They are well aware of Her Majesty's Government's view that an IDA 7 of $9 billion, which is the result of the low United States contribution, is inadequate. We have made clear our willingness to participate in a supplementary fund of up to $3 billion.
