HC Deb 19 March 1984 vol 56 cc330-1W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the number of elderly citizens being cared for and resident in (a) registered nursing homes and (b) private rest homes in Wales in 1979 and in the last year for which figures are available.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Information on the number of elderly patients in registered nursing homes is not held centrally, but the number of beds available in such homes for use by the elderly in 1982 was 816. The number of residents aged 65 and over in private and voluntary homes for the elderly in Wales was 1,391 in 1979 and 2,339 in 1983.

Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales by how much the percentage increase in the availability of part 3 accommodation places provided by each of the eight county councils in Wales has increased since 1979.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The information is as follows:

historic interest. The principal reason for removing a building from a list is that its architectural merit has been adversely affected to such an extent that it is no longer considered to be special interest.

Mr. Terlezki

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many listed buildings have been demolished in the last five years; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The numbers of listed buildings for which listed building consent for total demolition has been granted over the last five years are as follows:

5 Numbers
1979 7
1980 5
1981 4
1982 9
1983 10

Statistics are not available for the numbers of these consents implemented.
