HC Deb 15 March 1984 vol 56 c223W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will take steps to encourage the setting up of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in medical genetics to ensure that in each region there are adequate facilities to diagnose and counsel patients with genetic problems; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Brooke

Medical genetics is already a normal part of the medical undergraduate curriculum and some medical schools also offer postgraduate courses, but Health Ministers are responsible for ensuring that there are adequate facilities for patient care.
