HC Deb 15 March 1984 vol 56 cc212-3W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Prime Minister what account the Government have taken of the impact of food prices in the negotiations on the European Economic Community budget.

The Prime Minister

The Government consider that in future the rate of growth of expenditure on the common agricultural policy should be markedly lower than the rate of growth of the Community's own resources. The impact of food prices on consumers is an important factor in the Government's consideration of proposals affecting the common agricultural policy.
